Transformer Corrugated Tank
A corrugated tank is a type of transformer oil tank specially designed with corrugated (folded/firmed) steel panels. These corrugations act as built-in radiators, allowing the transformer to effectively dissipate heat without requiring external radiators.
Construction Features
- Made from CRCA Mild Steel sheets (1.2mm to 1.6mm thick) or as per customer specification
- Corrugated fins are formed using Fin-Forming machines, then welded to the main tank.
- Tank pressure tested and vacuum tested to ensure leak-proof design.
- Optional powder coating / epoxy paint/HDG for corrosion protection.
Advantages
- Compact Design— No external radiator banks required
- Cost Effective — Reduced fittings and structural materials
- Self-breathing oil system — eliminates conservator and breather assembly.
- Improved Aesthetics — clean, uniform appearance suitable for urban & industrial installations.
- Low Maintenance — fewer accessories and joints reduce leakage risk
Limitations
- Not suitable for very high MVA ratings requiring high cooling capacity
- fin damage during handling must be avoided.
- Requires precision welding and vacuum integrity.
Typical Applications
- Typical Applications
- Solar & Wind Farm Transformers
- Urban grid transformers where a small footprint is required.
